GREAT FOR HIKERS:

«Fleurs de vie» is an ideal starting point for some of the most beautiful hiking trails in the region: Méribel, Courchevel, The Vanoise National Park are all nearby.

The glacier area has numerous well-marked trails of varying degrees of difficulty. 

In the picture, we are heading towards the Vanoise collar from Pralognan.

Shelters with «restaurants» make it possible for you to admire the sun setting over the glaciers or spend several days walking further into the park.

 

MOUTIERS:

In the closest «big city» - 2.5km from «Fleurs de vie» the traveler can find everything he needs:       

3 supermarkets, several cafés and restaurants, gas stations, a tourists' office with a historical and archaeological museum, a post office, SNCF train station and more. 

Twice each week, in front of the St Pierre Cathedral; there is an open-air food market. 

Our photo was taken from the mountain top at a place called «la croix de Feissons».  At 1400m high, you have a beautiful view of the 3 Valleys and of Moutiers.

 

BREAKFAST IN THE MOUNTAINS:
What could be better than starting your day with a breakfast on the terrace?  In the background is the «cheval noir» mountain. 

One of the advantages of renting an apartment: you can make your own breakfast with fresh local products:  seasonal fruits, our famous croissants, excellent jams, tasty honey...

Enjoy the spectacular view and watch the sun rise over the mountains. 

While Moutiers still lies in darkness you will be enjoying the first rays of sunshine.

 

MOUTIERS' OPEN-AIR MARKET:

The French love to wander through and shop in their open-air markets. 

In Moutiers this market is open on Tuesday and Friday mornings at the «place du marché» in front of the St Pierre Cathedral.

Don't miss this!  Take your time; compare and sample the food; chat with the vendors. Stop once in a while to watch the colorful crowd from a café terrace. 

In addition to the food market, on Tuesday mornings there is another market nearby where you can find clothing, material, household utensils and more.

 

THE VANOISE NATIONAL PARK:
Created in 1963, this is the first French National Park. It covers 530 sq km, mostly in the mountains, and shelters unique flora and fauna. 

More than 500km of hiking trails cross the park.  «Fleurs de vie» is near the heart of the park.

By taking the D89 towards Pralognan, passing through  Brides-les-Bains, you soon arrive at Prioux.

A 3 hour drive from there takes you to Lake Blanc.  A must see!  Around every bend discover new panoramas and new impressions…

 

SAVOYARD FONDUE:
What would a vacation in Savoy be without a real fondue?  Even better when its ingredients are produced locally. 

Our photo was taken after the walk at Lake Blanc.  In Prioux there is a small restaurant «la bergerie», a real mountain restaurant, no electricity, candlelight only. 

Here you will find regional dishes at very reasonable prices. 

Indescribable: the complete fondue: ham, lettuce and cheese simmering slowly in the fondue pot.  The house specialty is its raclette cooked over a wood fire.  You can also purchase cheese like «le Beaufort» directly from the maker.

 

A TRIP TO THE LAKE OF ANNECY

Those who want to explore the area and at the same time spend a day at the beach should go to Annecy. 

Just an hour's drive to find one of France's most beautiful lakes.  Its crystal clear blue water as well as the magnificent scenery will make this a day to remember. 

A variety of activities: water-skiing, wake-boarding, wake-surfing, boat rides... Travel aroung the lake, passing through delightful villages, some with public beaches.

MOUTIERS BY NIGHT:
Evening ambiance in Moutiers... wander alongside the Isère; enjoy a cup of coffee in the pedestrians' zone or peruse the restaurant menus. 

As for the restaurants: you will find something to suit your taste and your pocketbook, from the simple but tasty pizza to the regional specialties. 

Treat your taste buds every day.   On the left side of the Isère there is a butcher's shop that has a daily take-out special at a reasonable price.  You won't go hungry here!
